During the course you will:

  • Help someone with thoughts of suicide develop a safety plan to keep safe-for-now and connect with further help

  • Apply a Safety Framework to guide the development of this SafePlan through a collaborative, helping relationship

  • Understand how personal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone’s openness to seek help and your ability to provide it

  • Build confidence and capacity in providing suicide first aid

Learning Styles:

  • The course has 14 hours of learning delivered over 2 full days with a group of 8-30 people.

  • You will watch film and presentations, discuss scenarios, have practice conversations about suicide a-working as a group and individually

  • You will be given an ASIST Workbook, a PAL (Pathway for Assisting Life) model quick reference card and other materials which you can keep to follow up on the course or learn more.

CANCELLATIONS -

In the first instance if you may have to cancel you will be offered a switch to another SMHFA course free of charge if one is available.

  • Cancellations more than 4 weeks in advance will be fully refunded.

  • Cancellations less than 3 weeks in advance will be offered a 50% refund.

  • Cancellations with less than 1 weeks notice will receive no refund.
