Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a two day course in Edinburgh on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September 2026.

ASIST prepares you to be ready, willing and able to help a person with thoughts of suicide stay safe for now.

Times: 9am to 5pm each day, including breaks

Venue: ECCI, High School Yards, Edinburgh EH1 1LZ

Materials: ASIST Manual and a Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) quick reference card

During the course you will:

  • Help someone with thoughts of suicide stay safe for now and connect with further help.

  • Apply a safety framework to build a SafePlan through a collaborative, helping relationship.

  • Understand how personal and community attitudes about suicide affect someone's openness to seek help.

  • Build your confidence and capacity to provide suicide first aid.

How you will learn:

  • 14 hours of learning across two full days, in a group of 8 to 30 people.

  • Film, presentations, group discussion and practice conversations about suicide.

  • You keep your ASIST Workbook, PAL quick reference card and other materials.

  • More than 4 weeks in advance: full refund.

  • Less than 3 weeks in advance: 50% refund.

  • Less than 1 week in advance: no refund.
